And now, they’re estimating cannabis to deliver $9 billion in revenues this year. How about the next 5 years when we can see more states following California and Colorado?
Can we really predict cannabis to eventually become a $100 Billion industry?
2. California delivers over $26 billion in revenues from weed crops.
Marijuana is the largest crop in 2016 and it even beats other crops in sales.
At $23.3 billion in crop value, marijuana is arguably the most valuable crop in California last year. This figure even beats the estimate of Arcview Market Research which has reported that California would have $6 billion in revenue from the cannabis industry.
3. Kentucky’s hemp production would be like tobacco. It is expected to triple in 3 years.
209 applications from growers have been recently approved in Kentucky, allowing them to produce up to 12,800 acres of hemp for research purposes this year.
In 2016, 137 growers were approved to plant up to 4,500 acres.
Growing hemp without a federal permit was banned in 1970 in this state due to its classification as a controlled substance related to marijuana.

6. Britain reclassifies CBD oil as a medicine.
Yes, it is banned at the US Fed level after DEA silently clarified that any derived product from cannabis or marijuana is still under the classification of the Schedule 1 drug.
But across the pond, the Britain’sMedicines & Healthcare products Regulatory Agency (MHRA) reclassifies CBD oil as a medicine and has approved it for distribution in all of the UK.
“We have come to the opinion that products containing cannabidiol (CBD) used for medical purposes are a medicine,” said an MHRA spokesperson on the agency’s website. “MHRA will now work with individual companies and trade bodies in relation to making sure products containing CBD, used for a medical purpose, which can be classified as medicines, satisfy the legal requirements of the Human Medicines Regulations 2012.”

8. Vermont governor pardons nearly 200 people with minor marijuana cases.
Almost 200 people who had minor marijuana cases have been pardoned by Vermont Governor Peter Shumlin. Consequently, their records for convictions were wiped off on Tuesday, Jan. 3, 2017.
Shumlin, who received 450 applications to pardon minor marijuana-related drug cases, had encouraged people convicted of minor crimes prior to marijuana decriminalization of the state for possession of small amounts of the weed in 2013 to apply for the pardons.
“My hope was to help as many individuals as I could overcome that stigma and the very real struggles that too often go along with it. Vermont should follow the many states that are legalizing and regulating the use of marijuana and put to an end the incredible failure that is the War on Drugs.”
